Eight days, one very busy neighbourhood. Every December, MadBear takes over Madrid's Chueca district, and more than 4,000 bears and admirers descend on the city for what's become one of the biggest bear events in Europe. From 3rd to 10th December, the streets around Calle Pelayo and Gran Vía fill up with bears from every corner of the map, and Chueca settles into its favourite winter role: bear capital of Spain. The days start slow and steam-filled: Octopus Sauna opens at midday and stays that way well into the evening, the perfect place to recover from last night and get ready for the next one. From 6pm the Bar Route kicks in, a nightly crawl through Bears Bar, El 12 Bar, Thick Bar, Hot Bar and Mad.Daddy Club that turns the whole neighbourhood into one long pre-party. Then, once midnight hits, it's decision time: a different headline club night every single evening, from the Mad.Woof and Bearbie Pop parties to Furball, Posh Beirut and Beefdip, each one packing YASTA Club or Mad.Daddy Club until sunrise. Whether you're there for the sauna sessions, the bar route, the themed club nights or just the sheer density of bears filling Chueca for over a week, MadBear has a rhythm to it: sauna by day, bars by evening, club by night, repeat.
